Every now and again

Every now and again we're tempted to suspend our war on sepia. It's still unnatural and aberrant, it's still not countenanced in Leviticus. It still seems simply to be a perverse choice, one that could be cured if one could learn to make a pretty picture. 


But panic's such an exhausting faith. Suppose there aren't enough of us?

    I had reference to "the invasion of the cuttlefish," posted November 6th. The use of sepia, like all affronts, may always avail itself of the defense of mitigating circumstances, m'lord. In your case, as I understand it, you've lately been on Crete, which would throw off anyone's sense of colour. I urge you to plead Minoan madness and throw yourself upon the mercy of the court. Right about, there.

    Grisaille is evocative and, to my knowledge, is not imposed on life studies. As for the giveaway, one's cup runneth over with fortune as it is in your readership.
